Resumen

El virus de la inmunodeficiencia humana (VIH) y su estadio final, el sindrome de inmunodeficiencia adquirida (SIDA), continuan siendo un problema de salud global, fundamentalmente en paises en vias de desarrollo, donde provoca una elevada morbimortalidad. En esta actualizacion se discutiran aspectos relacionados con su epidemiologia, mecanismos etiopatogenicos, historia natural, manifestaciones clinicas, diagnostico, pronostico, prevencion y generalidades del tratamiento.
