Resumen

Objetivo: Este artículo reporta el primer análisis bibliométrico de los temas de investigación de la inteligencia emocional, que muestra su estructura conceptual y evolución científica. Métodos: Para el análisis se utilizó Science Mapping Analysis Software Tool, una herramienta bibliométrica de mapeo de la ciencia basada en el análisis de co-palabras, utilizando una muestra de 8.884 documentos de investigación publicados desde 2001 hasta 2021 en las revistas indexadas en el Journal Citation Reports de la Web of Science. Resultados: Las investigaciones publicadas sobre inteligencia emocional se concentraron en los siguientes temas principales: personalidad, rendimiento académico y laboral, satisfacción vital, estrés y cognición social. Estos temas se diversifican a lo largo de los años. Los adolescentes y los estudiantes fueron las principales muestras sobre las que se estudió la inteligencia emocional. Conclusiones. Los principales temas de investigación en inteligencia emocional han ido cambiando de forma constante a lo largo del tiempo en cuanto a importancia y número de publicaciones. Esto nos anima a mantener una visión positiva del desarrollo del campo de la investigación en inteligencia emocional y a hacer un llamamiento a su seguimiento mediante el uso de técnicas de meta investigación como el presente estudio bibliométrico.
