Abstract
This research work analyzes —based on a database that contains all the cases of homicides and murders prosecuted in Spain by the Supreme Court and the Higher Courts of Justice— the number of homicides committed by agents of the police forces, in the period between 2017 and 2021. In order to examine and explain police violence resulting in death in this country, an exposition of the circumstances that have led to security policies in recent years is theoretically developed, reasoning and interpreting the data obtained in the quantitative and qualitative analyzes developed, under these theories about the current ways of understanding criminal and security policy and its corresponding practices.
