Abstract

A method for optimizing solar power tower systems is proposed, in which theheliostats location and size are simultaneously considered. Maximizing the efficiency of theplant, i.e., optimizing the energy generated per unit cost, leads to a difficult high dimensionalglobal optimization problem with an objective function hard to compute and non convexconstraints as well.The optimization problem and a greedy-based heuristic procedure to solve the problem will bedescribed.
