Abstract

Puerto Real has traditionally been related to the tertiary sector and shipbuilding (Iglesias, 2020), however, it has also been the seat of personalities who have contributed to the history of Spain (Parodi, 2023). Among them, some doctors, such as José María Botín (Cabrera, 2020), Imperial Iquino or José Sievert (Rodríguez, 2022). In this sense, two doctors related to the aforementioned town of Cadiz stand out, who distinguished themselves in the fight against pain, illness and death, writing glorious pages in the national and international anaesthesiological historiography: Juan Miquel y Salazar (Pérez and Márquez, 2009) and Antonio de Grazia y Álvarez (Pérez, 2019).
