Mirko Maturi obtained his bachelor’s degree in Industrial Chemistry at the University of Bologna (Italy) in 2015 and an Erasmus Mundus double master’s degree in Advanced Spectroscopy in Chemistry at the University of Bologna and the University of Lille 1 in 2017. Both degrees were obtained with full marks and honours. Afterwards, he pursued his PhD career in Materials Chemistry at the University of Bologna under the supervision of Prof. Mauro Comes Franchini, concluded in May 2021 with the defence of my thesis titled “Advanced Functional Organic-Inorganic Hybrid (Nano)Materials: from Theranostics to Organic Electronics and Additive Manufacturing”. During his research carrier, he developed wide experience in the manufacture, surface functionalization and characterization of plasmonic, magnetic, ceramic, and polymeric nano- and microstructures, with a wide range of applications spanning from nanomedicine and tumour theranostics to organic electronics and additive manufacturing. Moreover, his strong background in synthetic organic and polymer chemistry allowed him to design and manufacture new molecules to be employed, for example, as bio-based monomers for stereolithographic 3D printing or to develop novel approaches for the functionalization and compatibilization of reinforcement additives for composite materials. During his Doctoral and PostDoctoral studies at the University of Bologna he actively participated in the everyday coordination of the research projects related to stereolithography and nanomaterials. In this context and during the last 4 years, he was co-supervisor of 4 bachelor’s students and 6 master’s students, having played an effective role in their training and professional growth Currently, he is a Juan de la Cierva postdoctoral researcher, under the supervision of Prof. Sergio Molina, dedicated to the surface functionalization of organic and inorganic reinforcement fillers for thermoplastics, with applications in additive manufacturing of advanced functional composite materials. As of January 2023, he contributed to the publication of 23 scientific papers (h-index = 8). Moreover, he is listed as inventor in 2 registered patents, achieved thanks to an industrial collaboration in the field of biobased thermoplastic polymers and their nanocomposites, and 3 filed patent application in the fields of stereolithography and nanomedicine.
