Resumo

The thesis presented herein aims to analyze the importance of coach behavior on group dynamics in high-performance soccer teams, following the structure of the dynamic model of cohesion of Carron and Eys (2012), as well as to study the possible differences between male and female teams in this regard. Specifically, concerning coach behavior, variables such as leadership style, from the perspective of authentic leadership, player-perceived levels of competency and justice, and coach-created motivational climate have been analyzed. Among the variables related to team dynamics, the importance of clarity and role conflict, cohesion, and team conflicts have been analyzed. Finally, with regard to variables related to the possible consequences of group dynamics, the incidence of the above-mentioned constructs on the transactive memory system and collective efficacy, and their relationship with performance, has been analyzed. As conclusions, the importance that group processes seem to have on the behavior of the soccer players of both genders, and its impact on performance are highlighted, with practical applications that that could be extracted from the results obtained.
