Abstract
The analysis of the reliability of the six-minute walking test in people with paralytic polio sequelae through the twelve-week test-retest has not been studied yet. The subjects were people with paralytic polio sequelae (n = 18; 48,72 ± 7,69 years; 65,8 ± 11,6 kg). They were performed a twelve-week test-retest of the six-minute-walking test. This test consisted of having people walk as much as they could in six minutes, without running. The relative reliability of the described test was excellent (ICC = 0,99). As for absolute reliability, a standard error of measurement (SEM) of 1,7% was obtained and a small real difference (SRD) of 4.7%. The reliability of the six-minute-walking test using the Bland-Altman method showed that the systematic error (mean difference between test-retest) was 2,72 (bias). In conclusion the results obtained in the six-minute-walking test have been very reliable; we affirm that the six-minute-walking test may be used as a test for people with paralytic polio sequelae through twelve weeks test-retest, so that the changes obtained after the application of a physical activity program can be checked
