Abstract

This work aims to test a hierarchical model of motivation in Physical Education context with the purpose to examine the importance of motivational processes in the perception of positive behaviors` development. Hence, the sample was formed by 218 Physical Education students, ranging in age from 12 to 18 years old that filled several questionnaires to measure the variables of this study. Through data analysis we demonstrated that the model had an acceptable adjustment in the Physical Education domain, showing the importance of motivational climate on satisfaction of autonomy, competence and relatedness, verifying the mediator effect of those variables on type of motivation, and testing the predictive capacity of the motivational regulation on perception of positive behaviors` development.
