Resumen

Apatite fission tracks analysis have been performed in two samples from the Olivan and Urbion sedimentary groups (Mesozoic Cameros basin, N Spain). The sample from the Olivan group gives apatite fission track central ages o f around 64 Ma that, according to the maximum thermal gradient attained during the metamorphic stage (70°C/km), implies burial depths not exceeding 1.7 km. In this sample, apatite crystals with ages older than the depositional age are still observed and this indicates that temperatures did not exceed 120° C, the bottom temperature of the apatite annealing zone. The sample from the Urbion group (deepest sediments within the basin cropping out at present) gives apatite fission track central ages o f around 15 Ma. A ll the apatite crystals measured in the Urbion sample present ages much younger than the depositional age, which implies that maximum temperature attained exceed 120° C.
