Abstract

The purpose of this dissertation is to analyze Francisca Aguirre’s literary production, her poetry as well as her prose. Due to the variety of themes and the amount of texts analyzed, the content is distributed in five chapters. The first one is a brief introduction to Francisca Aguirre’s biography and the study of the poetic group of the 1950’s. The second part is dedicated to the autobiographic and memotalistic character of the work, that is, the work analyzed as a testimony and traumatic memory of the period the author had to live through: the Spanish civil war and the postwar period of the 1940'. The third chapter revolves around the study of Aguirre’s first work, Ítaca, and the mythological references present in her literary production. The fourth chapter aims to present the importance of different cultural products (cinema, music, literature and paintings), their cathartic value and their value as a refuge, to Aguirre and her family. Lastly, in the final chapter, the poetic and literary texts are studied as a criticism to today’s society
