Abstract

The "Evidence-Based Practice" (EBP) is a process of making health care decision based on the best available scientific evidence, as well as the characteristics, health status, needs, values and preferences of individual patients; the available resources; and the experience of the health professional, in a specific and organizational context. In recent years there has been a significant increase in the use and teaching of EBP principles among health professionals. In the present study, PBE is studied in the physiotherapists - osteopaths of the national territory, with the objective of knowing the degree to which they use the PBE in their daily clinical practice as osteopaths, analyzing the barriers / facilitators, both individual and organizational type. The use of EBP, analyze according to the influence of different sociodemographic variables and practice if significant differences in profile are observed. The study population is the physiotherapists - osteopaths who develop their clinical practice in the national territory. The sample was of 406 subjects. A descriptive study has been carried out using the transdisciplinary questionnaire Health Sciences - Evidence Based Practice (HS-EBP questionnaire), self-administered online. Physiotherapists - osteopaths get high PBE scores. The profile of higher PBE is that of a man with training in PBE, Doctorate, university work environment, older, more hours of work and greater dedication to teaching and research tasks. The profile of lower PBE includes the lack of training in PBE, the activity in Specialized Care and in the sector concerted / mixed, or rural.
