Resumo
Management plans must have a solid scientific basis and marine acoustic disturbance impacts from human activities studies are indispensable to support the management actions. However, there is no standard proceeding for marine acoustic evaluation. So, one of the options is to design an noise index through empirical formula that help to evaluate the acoustic impact of certain underwater sources. In spite of thousand underwater noise sources, the marine traffic is the maximum contributed to environmental noise in 5 Hz to 1 kHz frequency range. This paper shows the results of the first approach of a noise index that will be able to describe and characterize the acoustic pollution from a marine area.
