Resumen

Steel heat treating is very important for many industrial purposes. In this paper, we describe a mathematical model for the heating-cooling process of a steel workpiece leading to the desired hardness. The resulting model consist of a strongly coupled nonlinear system of PDEs/ODEs. A simpler version of this model is used for the numerical simulation of the hardening process of a car steering rack.
