The communication presented here is part of the research project "The perpetrator of violence against women: typologies, strategies and treatment" (funded by the Ministry of science and innovation - DER2010-16003), whose main objective is the analysis of strategies of justification and minimization of the facts by the perpetrator of violence against women, condemned and serving sentence at the time in which the interview takes place. This paper outlines the main results obtained on the influence of certain factors of static character (age, nationality, committed acts, etc.), cognitive (thoughts that are distorted on women and violence, ambivalent sexism) and attitudinal (self-esteem, emotional dependency, empathy) of perpetrators and the assumption of responsibility on his part, then pointing out the possible implications of these results in the configuration of penitentiary and post penitentiary intervention, in order to promote the reintegration of this group of offenders.
