Résumé

Psychophysiological effects of occupational noise on health are examined in a sample of 100paper factory workers. Noise effects on hearing, absenteeism, as well as on some physiological responses such as heart rate and blood pressure. Despite methodological drawbacks of this kind of research, findings show that straight occupational noise seriously harms health. Hearing is mainly affected, although an increase inauditory pressure does not lead to increased auditory disorders nor to a greater severity ofthem. Findings are not so conclusive concerning sympathetic arousal, a characteristic stressreaction.
