Zusammenfassung
The aim of this work is to offer -from a strictly linguistic point of view- an identification and defi-nition of the indirect object. This way, the author 1) reviews what several linguists of different tendencies and methodologies have said not only about the indirect object definition, but the syntactic and se-mantic features of the syntactic units functioning as indirect objects in a language and 2) outlines a linguistic definition of the indirect object and an empirical hypothesis to study it in a natural language, all from the Syntactic-Semantic Pattern Theory, a functionalist perspective based on the works of the Pra-gue Linguistic School.
