Zusammenfassung

A first study of these common pottery troncoconical funnels with hollow feet is shown, not well known elements of our instrumentum domesticum. First of all the typological and metrical characterization of thirty examples is performed, coming from fifteen archaeological sites in the Bay of Cádiz and in Baelo Claudia, mainly kilns and industrial areas. High Resolution Gas Chromatography of the inner coating of two pieces is presented by N. Garnier in an Appendix, showing fatty acid profiles of fish products. The function of these artefacts is discussed (flower pots, octopus fishing vessels, garum/liquamen filters), concluding that they were commonly used in industrial sites of the Circle of the Strait during the Early Roman Empire as funnels.
