Resum

The spatial distribution of Trachinus draco (Linnaeus, 1758) in the northern Alboran Sea (SW Mediterranean) was analized using experimental bottom trawl surveys and local fisheres trammelnets survey data. The species showed a seasonal migratory behaviour, with a preference for shallower waters, up to 75 m depth, during autumn and for deeper waters, up to 160 m depth, during spring. The species showed a heterogeneous spatial distribution along the coast, with two clear separate areas of maximum abundance. Analysis of the size frequency distribution suggests that large sizes appeared in the western part of the study area. In autumn, medium-size fish were absent in the deepest waters, while small fish appeared in shallow zones.
