Abstract

Traditionally Spain is a touristic country, and Andalusia is a highlighting zone in this sector. Rural tourism is configured as a tourist typology with strong potential for growth and impact on territorial development. However, if rural tourism takes place in rural areas, and Andalusia has three types of it, have these three types of rural tourism a different impact on territorial development? To answer this question, it is necessary to achieve the following objectives: first, to know the relationship between the different rural Andalusian variables and their classification according to tourism, from cluster analysis and discriminant analysis, on the other hand, study the relationship between rural tourism and regional development, from the literature, and finally, examine those rural Andalusian tourism characteristics are different from those in other areas of similar classification to revitalize area, intermediate or peri circumstance considered in the design of local policies of territorial development. Finally, based on the foregoing, we conclude with an affirmative answer to the initial question, showing that, with few exceptions, in rural areas to revitalize tourism develops oriented cottages, in the interim, the tourism sector not usually stand out from the main sectors of the territory and peri-urban areas, tourism is a sector widely developed a diversified supply of tourist accommodation.
