Abstract

Different functions regarding communication among countries (i.e., Science, international organizations, Internet) have focused during the past twenty years on diverse languages increasingly called international. It is a crucial moment to a language like Spanish: The Spanish language is denominated supercentral by some linguists, among others it is mentioned that it is a hypercentral language. The issue here is that Europe (European Union and Council of Europe) does not recognize such projection to a language like Spanish. Accordingly, the Spanish language center of gravity would shift, even permanently, to America.
