The physical education (PE) is one of the main agents to promote the physical activity (PA) among students. Positive or negative experiences will determine or not the adherence to the physical activity. Objective: To examine the effect of a project of individualized work in PE classes on the PA levels, physical fitness and the attitudes towards the course in 11st grade students. Methods: An experimental study carried out in 61 students (33 boys) of 11st grade, with a control group with 28 students (17 boys) and an experimental group with 33 students (16 boys). The study lasts 5 moths. The studied variables are PA, physical fitness, attitudes towards PE classes, self-concept and perceived health status, feeding, alcohol and tobacco consumption and other drugs, sleep and rest, active commuting to school and use of the leisure time. Result: The planning and development of individualized work by the students in the PE classes will lead to an increasing in the PA and physical fitness levels, and therefore an improvement in perceived health status compared to the students in the control group. Conclusion: The application of a teaching-learning process of PE classes based on individualized work projects will have positive effects in the students’ adherence towards the practice of physical and sport activities, an increasing of PA levels and an improvement in physical fitness, comparing with the control group students. The perception of utility and the importance on PE classes will also improve.
