Abstract

This paper analyzes the position of music in the thought of Galen, who places it inside the liberal arts as theory of harmony. The Pergamenus, according to his predecessors, is aware of its role in medicine because of its ability to influence in the ēthos. In addition, he defends the paideutical and ethical function of the musical discipline, so that it becomes a fundamental complement in the training of every doctor, due to its practical applications.
