Résumé

A systematic study by X-Ray Diffraction and Infrared Spectroscopy of six selected natural prehnites Ca2Al(AlSi3O10) (OH)2 from: Gistain, Buitrago, Conil, Poona and New Jersey, is presented. The assignment of their principal IR bands have been realized and combined with DTA-TG and MS data. The structural deformations in prehnite are discussed as a function of Fe content (Fe - A1 substitution) in octahedral sites. The dehydration of prehnite occurs at high temperature showing two different structural hydroxyls and the reaction may be presented as: prehnite = anortite +• wollastonite. This process is also interpreted on the basis of Fe content.
