Abstract

In this paper we present the initial results obtained from a research-action within a didactic sequence in the subject of "Environmental Education as an Integrating Axis" in the 3rd year of the Degree in Primary Education held during the course 2014/2015. It is assessed whether the developed dynamics help to foster the transition from a simplistic thinking to a more complex one, using as a theoretical framework the paradigm of complexity, socioconstructivist perspective of learning and environmental education. The analysis of students' previous ideas on the concepts of environment and Environmental Education showed a certain progress from the conception of an environment strongly marked by the natural dimension to a natural and human interrelated environment, maintaining, however, the idea of an Environmental Education focused on caring for and protecting it.
