Abstract

Consequences of the evacuation of the civilian population of Gibraltar during the Second World War in the current sociolinguistic educational situation. In this article we intend to review the effects of the evacuation of civilians from Gibraltar to places like London, Jamaica, Madeira and Northern Ireland during the Second World War, on the adoption of new measures of language policy and planning in the education system, in order to improve the level of competence in the English language among the population.
