Resumen

Background: In order to perform a process of health planning and programming it is necessary to study, analyze and assess the socio-demographic characteristic indexes and indicators that area. The aim of this study was to determine the demographic structure of the population of the Sierra de Cadiz and determine whether independent health and factors characteristic of the area can influence it. Methods: A descriptive, observational study was carried out in the region of the Sierra de Cadiz during the years 2013-2015. The sample size is the entire population. The variables were: population by age, sex, in core, spread and foreign, surface area and population density. The source of information was the Institute of Statistics and Cartography of the Government of Andalusia, and a descriptive and analytical statistical analysis was performed. Results: The total population of 118418 inhabitants in a total surface area of 1,998.6 km2, constituting a population density of 59,25habitantes / km2. The 17,95% are over 65 years. 4% of the population is spread. Conclusions: The region of the Sierra de Cadiz is disseminated, being a widely dispersed geographically and demographically area, presents a progressive aging, where there is occurring a population renewal. The variables studied influence the health of its population. You need to know and analyze the sociodemographic characteristics of a population to determine and address the health problems that this presents.
