Abstract

Migration policies in the European Union are increasingly limiting interchange between different communities. Nonetheless, legislation on immigration should focus on the economic and social integration of migrant workers -both illegal and legal- by providing them with mechanisms for self care that can grant them wages in accordance with the ones drawn by Spanish workers, so they don't have to depend on informal resources or become victims of labor discrimination or human trafficking. Thus, the labor field would not be a place for damaging Human Rights or foster xenophobia. Therefore, strategies designed by Spain on irregular migration are an option to lead the way for criminal policies in the European Union.
