Abstract

Anorectal functional disorders are common and affect 25% of the adult and pediatric population. Although they have been treated in various ways, in the last two decades biofeedback has become an effective and safe treatment. Its main indications are fecal incontinence and dyssynergic defecation with an efficacy of over 70%. Here we review the general requirements for its realization, rehabilitation objectives, procedure, effectiveness and limitations.
