Abstract

The political corruption, unlike other forms of criminality, is characterized by the enormous harmfulness of its consequences, which negatively affect large sectors of population and make unfeasible the development of social policies by the State. In addition, corrupt authorities and public servants use their power (occupational crime) to obtain large economic profits and ensure their impunity. Opposite to this worrying phenomenon, it should be required to implement strategies of control and transparency, but also a criminal policy aimed to reach the adequate revision of criminal offenses, applicable penalties and prosecution procedures
