Zusammenfassung

Neuroendocrine tumours are the most common small bowel tumours. Its clinical presentation may be produced by the release of vasoactive substances into the systemic circulation, causing diarrhea, abdominal pain, facial flushing or heart disease, or secondary to inflammation and fibrosis of the surrounding tissues, causing symptoms of intestinal obstruction or mesenteric ischemia. Intestinal obstruction is rare, and usually occurs in late stages of the disease in patients with liver metastases. Radiological and nuclear medicine imaging are important for its diagnosis, but confirmatory diagnosis is made by histological study. We present a case of ileal carcinoid with unique mesenteric metastases that presented with bowel obstruction.
