Abstract

This paper analyzes the protection offered by the Social Security system in situations of violence against women. The Organic Law 1/2004 of 28 December, on Integrated Protection Measures against Gender Violence, considered that the Labor Law and the Social Security are tools at the service of the victims to achieve their protection and to help overcome such personal situation. The international, European and national context shows that gender violence is the most brutal manifestation of gender inequality. Eradicating gender-based violence against women must be a priority of the Member States. This paper studies the benefits granted by the Social Security, on the impact of the reforms adopted after the Organic Law 1/2004 of 28 December (for example, with the State Pact against Gender-based Violence), and on the quantitative implementation achieved, proposing alternatives for improvements.
