Abstract
This paper explores a teachingmethodology —within the frame of LinguisticsApplied to Language Teaching— forthe development of written skills in otherlanguages by college students. This proposalhas been designed as part of the teachingexperience with students belonging to theNorthwest Cádiz Program. Students fromthe Universities of Washington and WesternWashington go to Cádiz to enjoy a languageimmersion experience. Written skillsin Spanish as a Foreign Language (SFL) areencouraged exposing them to printed textsin both English and Spanish. This methodologyfavours contrastive analysis amongboth languages, translation, as well as writingacademic essays in the target languagewithin the context of higher education.
