Hábitos de prescripción de antihipertensivos en atención primaria

Resumen

Objectives: To analyze the profile and prescription habits of medicines in Primary Health Care Centers. Methods: A descriptive analysis of the prescriptions made out to treat high blood pressure, the sample was put together by selecting individual case studies at random. Results: We analyzed a total of 296 doctor visits. The total number of medicines used were 437, primarily: IECA (34.8%), calcium antagonists (30.2%) and diuretics (21.7%). 176 patients were treated with only one active agent, with IECA's being the most commonly prescribed therapeutic option (27.0% of cases). 62.5% of patients presented a related pathology. Conclusions: 1. IECA's are the most used drugs. 2. Diuretics and ß-blockers are rarely used. 3. Prescription habits in the treatment of high blood pressure are not significantly modified when patients present associated pathologies
