Abstract

The pre-adolescent phase stands out for being a period of continuous and diverse psychological, social and physical changes. Taking into account the psychosocial factors that influence it, self-concept becomes a fundamental theme for the correct integral development of the student body. For this reason, this study sets as objectives the description of the levels of physical and academic self-concept, physical activity and academic performance, as well as the possible associations in a sample of schoolchildren in the third cycle of Primary school. The sample is made up of 413 schoolchildren between the ages of 10 and 12 (M=11.20; DT=0,53). An Ad hoc questionnaire was used to record socio-demographic aspects, the frequency of physical activity of the participants and their parents, as well as being federated, the number of outstanding and notables in the last quarter and the Autoconcepto Forma-5 questionnaire. As main conclusions, the best valued dimension is the academic one on the part of the girls, the boys stood out for presenting a greater tendency towards physics when related to a greater time of sport practice and academic performance.
