Abstract

This doctoral thesis aims to investigate the crisis of the political System of the "Restauración" in the province of Cadiz, through the analysis of the seven general elections held between 1910 and 1923. What becomes evident through this research of electoral sociology is the growing fragmentation of the political parties that supported the monarchy of Alfonso XIII, the weakness of the forces "marginalized from the system, such as the republicans, to raise a political alternative and a territorial dialectic almost always fragmented in the moments before the elections, due to the neeed of the provincial "caciques" to have to satisfy the local or regional interests of the political factions that supported them. The work is completed with the reconstruction of the political biographies of all the parliamentarians who were elected by the province in this period, both to Congress and the Senate, in all these electoral processes
