Abstract

The involvement of families in the school is essential to ensure an inclusive and democraticeducation. We present a study in the province of Castellón (Spain) with quantitative and qualitativemethodologies. The conclusions show the interest of families to get closer to school, contributing to aninteraction culture and community improvement. Attending this interest, some pedagogical proposalsare pointed out. The need to sensitize families about the meaning and scope of inclusion, theassessment of contextualized educational needs and the development of general and individualizedplans of action. The family involvement understood in this way, is inserted into an active process ofnetwork communication, educational change and cultural transformation.
