Abstract

The present work shows a very spectacular case of coastal erosion induced by human activities. The Valdelagrana spit-barrier, located in the Bay of Cádiz, has retreated about 500 m in the last 50 years. This erosion was triggered by the construction of groins. The study includes quantification of erosion rates and their variation with time, through the application of GIS to photogrammetric images.
