Abstract

Teachers of Children’s Literature are bound to give our present students, and teachers to-be, some necessary tools to be able to judge children’s books critically. For several years now we have carried out and worked on a kind of book evaluation form. This form is divided into several sections and subsections such as: bibliography, title, edition, layout, contents, reception, final assessment, as well as the student’s personal opinion. The main advantage of this form is that the student is allowed, and obliged to pay attention to specific matters and details concerning Children’s Literature at the same time. On the other hand these matters would be unseen by means of a traditional literary analysis. It is also useful in order to extend the student’s critical and analytical abilities. Finally the teacher may consider its usefulness as a tool to evaluate his students.
