Resum

In the first half of Eighteenth-Century the printing of almanacs (annual astrologi-cal prognostications) experienced an increase in Spain. This kind of pamphlets suffers a lot of changes in order to evolve from the field of astrological science to the field of entertainment or didactic literature. We formulate the hypothesis that these changes react to the discredit of astrology (mainly the judicial one), which forced to reconfigure social and intellectual legitimation of almanacs, re-classifying them under new parameters: utility and literary qualities, instead of scientific efficacy. We map the intellectual classification of almanacs by means of the analysis of three hundred of censures published as «approbations» in the pamphlets themselves. Additionally, we pretend to offer a model for using that kind of documents in Eighteenth-Century literary studies.
