Abstract
This communication arises initially from the review of documents on theoretical and relevant experiences regarding different types of service-learning (Sl) practices, linked to teacher training. The aim of this work wasto try and determine the characteristics of our own service-learning practices. As a result of that review process we found out the model called: “cascading service-learning”. In short, this method implies the collaboration between teachers and students from various educational stages with the ultimate purpose of sharing Sl actions. What makes of this model a particular one, is the implementation of at least two chained Sl proposals developed by students from different educational levels. We consider that this model provides enormously powerful elements for the training of prospective teachers. The main core of this work is the spreading of our exploratory studies, as well as the determination of the model characteristics and its defining elements from our own experiences.
