Abstract

This work compares the opinions of the students who took the course Early L2 Acquisition(2017-18) about the factors that influence the acquisition of second languages (L2). The course is offered as part of the Bachelor in Primary Education by a private Spanish university. The students’ opinions are collected after assessing twelve statements that comprise the questionnaire (Lightbown and Spada, 1999) used as main data collection tool. All the answers are numerical due to the typology of the questionnaire’s Likert-scale format. The questionnaire was provided to the students during two different stages of the course: introductory and final sessions. The questionnaire statements include some of the most relevant elements of the study of L2 acquisition: learner’s internal factors; error treatment; teacher’s methodological implications; etc. The most significant result points to the students’ change of opinion between the course’s introductory and final sessions for the majority of the questionnaire’s statements in relation to L2 acquisition.
