Resum

Environmental conditions are of concern to humanity, especially at a time when tech-nological progress and the widespread process of globalisation are shaping the spirit of the age. The need to address environmental change first corresponded to natural sciences, but now more and more it falls to humanities, including eco-linguistics, a new branch of applied linguistics that analyses the role of language in the development and possible solution to ecological and environmental problems. Considering that language, whether verbal and/or written, is a means of communication to grasp the world and perceive real-ity, it is important to highlight the role of translation when we transfer ideas, perceptions of the world and concepts from one culture to another in this process. In this article, we propose to show the results of the analysis of the environmental discourse in Germany, based on the texts published in Der Spiegel magazine in 2016, and how this method helps to introduce the German translator to the process of translating environmental issues
