Resumen

At present, phasor measurement units (PMUs) are the most widely used synchronized measurement technology (SMT)-based device for power system applications. The major advantages of using an SMT are that all measurement signals are attached with a high-accuracy time stamp; this will facilitate the transition from the conventional SCADA-based measurement system to a more intelligent measurement system that utilizes synchronized measurements from geographically distant locations. This will help in spreading the smart grid conception. We propose a new synchronized technique. A precision time protocol (PTP)-based global system has been defined to provide a synchronized substation for phasor measurements. It implements the precision time protocol to perform time stamping for these innoratiye electronic designs (IEDs). For this objective, we have developed experimental procedures to the standards involved.
