Abstract

A study of the educational leadership and the performance of the Principals is presented.These can be considered as one of the most important elements of the education system tobe effective, to achieve quality results, to develop the processes of change and improvement.Leadership is linked to the attitude and behavior of school principals. The 21st centuryschool is facing a society, where changes have become a permanent priority, influencedby technology, globalization processes, changes in curricula and programs to name afew. By deepening social change, values of communication, interrelation and inclusion,the school is considered as an organization open to the community, these characteristicshave brought valuable traits for a new and emerging leadership exercise in the education sector. It was born a few years ago, the concept of LD, an emerging concept, importantfor the educational sector culture, is a form of shared leadership that is based on a morecollective and inclusive philosophy than the traditional educational leadership theory thatfocuses In skills, traits and behaviors individuals as leaders. To develop this communication,it was proposed as main objective to describe through a case study: How are thepractices of (LD) and the actions of the director of a public school? The methodology ofthe study has been based on qualitative techniques, it is a mixed source case design, weused structured interviews in depth, an in-depth interview guide was developed (interviewguide). The results are very broad and in this communication a part of them is presentedfor one of the dimensions that integrate the (LD) of the four dimensions (LD Practices,Shared Decisions, Mission, Vision and Professional Development).
