Diagnóstico territorial con un enfoque de desarrollo integral, territorial y sostenible

Abstract

Strategic territorial planning is an essential component of the development processbecauseit facilitates community improvement. As such, this study begins with a brief diagnosis of the situation in the province ofCotopaxi,Ecuador. The items that were considered in the SWOT analysiswere services as well as environmental aspects related toinfrastructure and demographics. The analysis wasvalidated through quantitative and qualitative analysis techniques. The quantitative analysis was done using information from databases published in national and regional organizations, while the qualitative analysis was carried out with the help of local participants in interviewsand focus groups. The results highlight the presence of the province ́s potentials; however, they also underscore thedifference in productivity and competitiveness with the country's hegemonic centers, including the provinces fo Pichincha and Guayas.
