ABSTRACT This thesis aims to show the literary journalism written by Jaime Campmany (1925-2005) through his differents stages. This extensive period of time, from the 1940', when he worked in the newspapers of Murcia, to his last stage as columnist in the early 21 st century, allows us to highlight the most important stages in his profesional carrer as journalist, as well as highlighting his numerous literary works -some of them little known- in the sphere of journalism: literary and costumbrist articles, commentaries and micro-essays, theater critic, travel chronicles, obituaries, football comentaries, reports, opinion articles. Through the analysis of these journalistic texts of grand literary beauty, many of which haven't seen the light of day since the years of its publication in the press, the intention is to contribute to the research that studies the relationships between journalism and literature the work of Jaime Campmany, a model of literary journalist. It's clarifier that Campmany cultivated poetry in his youth and got in the Murcia 's cultural landscape in the forties reiciving prestigious awards. Thanks to that taste for the exercise of the verse, the aesthetic concern will be linked to the forging of his journalistic style, that he will develop in Madrid later. Poetry and journalism share some formal characteristics such as precision and synthesis. To say a lot and beautiful with a few exact words. In addition, numerous examples of Campmany's articles have been selected for this thesis in order to show that writting with literary expression, the text can become timeless when the news dies. In other words, we can find in the journalistic work of Campmany pieces that we can consider imperishable when they pass topicality and also allows us to understand our culture and some periods of our history. The chosen structure for the construction of the thesis -four chapters through which advances in the career of Jaime Campmany- also, allow us to draw author's biography until now unpublished; although, the vital events are narrated here are related more or less to the analysis of the Campmany`s articles in his different times. The reason for the choice of this diachronic structure is because each period of time that the author passes by influences and enriches to the next. Furthermore, Spain was in a constant transformation and whose chronicle was exciting to write since journalism. It also stands out articles that Campmany dedicated to Murcia, especially those in which he uses autochthonous vocabulary and he emphasises the idiosyncrasy from his hometown. The methodology that we use to develop the hypothetical plan focuses on these sources: the Jaime Campmany's articles in the personnel archive at his home in Madrid, also in the Municipal Archive of Murcia, in the Local Archive in the Regional Library of Murcia, in the Municipal Archive of Madrid and the Digital Newspaper ABC. To define the discipline of literary journalism and develop a theoretical and historical context where to frame Jaime Campmany, we use scientifics articles, monographics and books by authors specialized in this area. And finally, we can go into detail about the personality of Campmany thanks to the testimonies of people close to him. Without these ones, this thesis would err of inaccuracies and lack of human vision.
