Abstract

Within the pro-soviet communist Spanish trend, an intellectual distanced himself from 1973 until his retirement from politics in 1983. Carlos Tuya and his thoughts constitute one of the central figures of the pro-soviet political project in Spain. Throughout this paper, we will address how this thought was forged (which was the backbone of the pro-soviet project), its evolution and context and, above all, what it consisted of As a pre-eminent figure of the pro-soviet intelligentsia, the life’s work of Carlos Tuya proposed an updated and revolutionary way towards socialism in a developed country, one with ty-pical economic structures of state monopoly capitalism and a kind of State that evolved from Franco’s national-catholic dictatorship to a parliamentary democracy comparable to the rest of the European political regimes.
