Abstract

Objective: to compare the level of daily AF of a group of children participating in the schoolintervention program "comprehensive sports schools" (EDI), vs. a group without intervention.Methodology: randomized sample of 154 schoolchildren from a total of 2,531 EDI participants. From this group a stratified probability sampling was obtained, for each of the 8 regions of thecountry chosen (Antofagasta, Coquimbo, Valparaíso, Metropolitana, O` higgins, BioBio, Araucaníaand Los Lagos), obtaining a total of 70 randomized participants (51 children and 19 girls) between7 and 11 years old. Added to this, a control sample of 84 participants was incorporated forconvenience (49 boys and 35 girls), both groups of vulnerable public schools. To register the bodyweight, a Tanita HD314 digital scale was used. A portable stadiometer, brand Seca 213, was usedfor the height. The physical activity level (NAF) was evaluated using Actigraph triaxialaccelerometers model wGTX3BT. The use of the accelerometer was on the right side between thehip and the waist, having to be carried for at least 8 h / day, continuously during the school day, with a time schedule between 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Results: 50% of the children in the interventiongroup comply with the recommendations of (Moderate / Vigorous Physical Activity) AFMV andonly 22.7% of the children in the non-operated group. In the first recess, the AFMV time is doublein the non-intervening group (p <0.001). During the intervention session, sedentary time is greaterin the non-operated group and the level of physical activity is higher in the group operated (p<0.001). Lunchtime was identified with a higher level of FA without difference between groups. The steps / h of the group operated at 10 o'clock are higher, where the intervention session begins, which is more than double (p <0.001). Conclusions: the intervention program EDI, allows to meetthe daily recommendations of moderate / vigorous AF, by 50% compared to 34% exposed by theReport of notes from Chile. Key words: sports intervention, physical activity level, school day.
