Abstract

Many philosophers have expressed their preconceptions about women. Centuries of literature have left us with surprising expressions, which reflect a terribly negative historical tendency to recognize the other basic element of humanity. A general trend that was defined by the name misogyny. Yet, Averroes― with his brave comments― defiantly represented a unique example in the treatment of women against the dominant masculine parameters. The present work tries to highlight this positive attitude toward the feminine component, which the Cordovan thinker highlights in his comments, notably in Plato’s The Republic.
